P.A.R.I.S. Social Innovation Support and Research Programme
Université Paris Cité (UPC) has adopted an ambitious and decisive programme comprising a number of projects designed to help the university's stakeholders rise to the challenge of its many transitions.
The Institut des défis is contributing its expertise and support to the P.A.R.I.S project and its three pillars. The first pillar consists of developing teaching and commitment mechanisms dedicated to sustainability issues, the second pillar aims to integrate the same issues into existing subject-based teaching, and the third pillar is devoted to training and support for teaching staff.

Course Unit Ecological Transition and Societal Issues (TEES)
Raising students' awareness of sustainability issues, whatever their disciplinary background, through an engaging teaching format.
Training for all students, in all disciplines. The course is divided into two parts: an initial 12-hour awareness-raising component to acquire a common base of knowledge and open up the debate on ecological and societal issues, followed by an action-oriented component which consists of carrying out a project in a multi-disciplinary team, guided by a mentor, to learn how to analyse and raise awareness among the general public of an issue or possible solution to a societal problem.

Develop a fertile campus life and bring out new ways to engage students in ecological issues.
What we are witnessing today is a lack of awareness of the complex and systemic issues of sustainability among students and the higher education community. Our university is no exception: there is little or no understanding of sustainability issues, and the whole of French higher education is under institutional and popular pressure to integrate sustainability issues into all courses of study.

U&C Lab
A residence to support teachers and researchers wishing to develop innovations in the field of science and society, and in particular regarding interactions between the university and the city.
The support programme offered to residents is co-designed on a customised basis following a project methodology. It is developed with the project leader to determine the outputs together. The aim of these deliverables is to produce a new training course for a defined group of learners. Meetings between the different project leaders are also organised to encourage exchanges and new teaching ideas.
